 Public Tour of the Norman B. Leventhal "Walk to the Sea"

Be among the first to walk the new Norman B. Leventhal "Walk to the Sea," just days after its dedication. The Boston Harbor Association's Vivien Li, a speaker at the 25 September dedication, will lead this free tour from Long Wharf to Beacon Hill. Highlighted by a series of informational panels about the history of the city, the Norman B. Leventhal "Walk to the Sea" is an exceptional way to experience Boston Harbor and its history.

Location: Meet at the Norman B. Leventhal "Walk to the Sea" informational panel at Long Wharf.

 Peddocks Island Boat Trip
Saturday, 11 October, 11:00am – 4:00pm
Join the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands on a trip aboard the M/V Culebra, a beach landing vessel, to the five drumlins of Peddocks Island. Guided walks available or explore on your own.

Location: Depart from Rowes Wharf Water Transport, Boston.

 Make a Difference: Daylilies & Bulb Planting on the East Boston Greenway
Thursday & Friday, 23 and 24 October 2008 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Located along the lush East Boston Greenway are thousands of daylilies that brighten the path and delight passersby. These daylilies are provided through a generous donation to the Boston Natural Areas Network, and an additional supply has recently been donated. Come help plant these new lilies and make the Greenway even more enticing. Community and school groups welcome. Shifts from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm or 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

 "Arts on the Point" HarborWalk Tour
Wednesday, 29 October 2008 5:00 – 6:15 pm
Paul Tucker, world-renowned art specialist and curator of "Arts on the Point," will lead a tour of the spectacular "Arts on the Point" sculpture garden on the UMass Boston campus. Participants will see and learn about works of art by some of the world's most prominent 20th century sculptors. Free, reservations required.

Location: Meet at the UMass Boston Student Center (the shuttle bus from the UMass Station, MBTA Red Line, stops at the Student Center).
